South Rapid

South Rapid is also known as the Mount Rushmore Corridor by some. South Rapid encompasses the are directly south of Downtown roughly between Dinosauer Hill on the west, 5th. Street on the east and the Catron Boulevard truck by-pass on the south.

South Rapid has two major north/south streets, Mount Rushmore Road (formerly known as 8th. Street) and 5th. Street. The majority of businesses lie along Mount Rushmore Road and the southern end of 5th. Street. You'll find restaurants, plenty of fast food, specialty shops, souveneir shops and motels galore along Mount Rushmore Road.

If you're on your way to Mount Rushmore, we recommend that you travel down Mount Rushmore Road and take advantage of the unique shopping opportunities. You can get to Mount Rushmore Road by taking the Haines exit off I-90 and traveling south to Omaha Street. Go three blocks west (right) and you're there.
